Backpacker Magazine's Get Out More Tour 2011

Woolrich, the Original Outdoor Clothing Company�, for the fourth consecutive year will criss-cross the country with Backpacker Magazine's Get Out More Tour to educate consumers about the skills and equipment needed to enjoy the outdoors and inspire healthy active lifestyles. The Woolrich sponsored tour began last week in Raleigh, NC and will make sixty-seven stops at retail stores, events and festivals before finishing in early December in Houston, TX. The next stop on the Get Out More Tour is this evening at 7pm at Great Outdoor Provisions in Wilmington, NC.


At each stop, the Get Out More Tour outdoor experts Sheri and Randy Propster provide insightful and useful advice on the latest gear and the skills required to use them appropriately. During the 75-minute seminars attendees will learn things from how to layer correctly to how to pack for a multiday backpacking trip.

"The Get Out More Tour is great for us and the outdoor community, as it provides a venue for Woolrich to support our retail partners and speak directly with consumers," said Jerry Rinder, Woolrich VP of Sales. "Sheri and Randy are fantastic ambassadors, the only thing that rivals their technical knowledge is their enthusiasm and passion for the outdoors."

Woolrich has been a partner of the Get Out More Tour since 2008 and since then has outfitted the Propsters for their presentations as well as their on trail adventures. Experts with true-life experience, the Propsters spent 222 days thru-hiking the Appalachian Trail in 1999 and in 2006 thru-hiked the American Discovery Trail across the U.S.

"Woolrich really understands what people need to enjoy the outdoors," said Randy Propster. "We pride ourselves on knowing the products we present in our seminars inside and out and we've put our Woolrich gear through some gnarly weather and it has always met our performance expectations."

Since 1830 Woolrich has been producing performance outdoor products for explorers and everyday adventurers. In 1939 Woolrich outfitted Admiral Byrd's Third Expedition to the South Pole and more recently supported Dale Andersen Ph.D., of the Carl Sagan Center for the Study of Life in the Universe, on a three-month expedition in the Antarctic where he dove in remote lakes below twenty feet of ice to better understand how microbial life is able to exist in extreme environments on Earth.

While these expeditions tested Woolrich products in some of the harshest conditions others rely on Woolrich to enjoy the outdoors and help them reach more personal goals, like Daniel Dorr who summited Mt. Kilimanjaro in Woolrich gear after being turned in his first attempt. Dorr chronicled his experience in his recent book, Kissing Kilimanjaro: Leaving it all at the top of Africa.
