Asolo Trekking Boots : The Merchandise Range

Asolo is a internationally renowned name, any time one talks with the Hiking Boots. It’s remained too long a growing concern with the hikers to depart an indelible effect. A good virtually any item on the market is largely influenced by the number of products it includes, suitable for every different consumer. And this is [...]

(We did a sneak peek with Storey’s creative director Alethea Morrison just last year). I have more than a few Storey books, and I love any sort of illustrated chart – particularly when there...

(I was wrong - most of this actually happened in July. Sorry)

Nara In Her Strawberry Outfit
My mother was hosting a number of relatives over the summer, but one week had a particlularly large confluence - my Aunt from Ontario and two of my Dad's cousins (and their wives). How do you help out? Come over and visit at the same time!

Botanical Beach is one of my favorite places. I've been to Botanical Beach for day trips and I've also stayed in near by Port Renfrew for a May Long Weekend. How is botanical beach with a 6 week old baby? The walk down to the beach was fine (we use a soft carrier) but the baby doesn't like sunlight (you can't put sun screen on a new born and they do burn easily). There was lots of good cover by the side of the beach so we took turns with the baby.

There are at least two different modes for exploring Botanical Beach - either the taster plate tour or the in depth look. For people new to Botanical Beach you want to see everything. If you have been here before, you start to look for details that are different.

My Mom's tour of the local sights includes a day trip to Salt Spring Island to see the farmers market. For lunch we decided to do a picnic at Mount Maxwell - where I proposed to Helen

There is a fantastic view up here but of course we ruined it by putting people in front.

Lion King

Four Generations
My Parents and Grandparents had tickets to see Lion King! Of course they can't come to town and not see the Baby. Their show started at 7:30 pm and we got their hotel about an hour before they had to leave. Nara was initially sleeping but with enough handling she eventually came around and said hello to everyone!

How to eat fufu in Ghana, Africa

fufu, chicken, and groundnut soup in ghana in africa When traveling, experiencing the food of a culture can be one of the most exciting parts of the journey. Not only can you learn a lot about a group of people by their dining etiquette, but eating itself is fun.

Recently, I was lucky enough to take a trip to Ghana in Western Africa where dining rules and the cuisine itself differ greatly from that of Western culture. One specialty that is a local favorite, as well as a dish on every visitor's list of foods to try, is fufu.

At first glance, fufu looks just like a lump of mashed potatoes sitting in some kind of soup. In your head you may picture yourself picking up a spoon, dipping it into the soft, creamy mound, and putting it into your mouth without a care in the world. Possibly it will taste buttery, and maybe there will even be some onions or chives in there.

If this is what you're thinking, then you have never actually experienced fufu.

Fufu is a cassava-based dish. Basically, the root-based plant is boiled in water then pounded down with a mortar and pestle. What you have now is a thick dough-like mixture that needs to be ferociously stirred, which usually takes two people, one pounding the fufu with the long, wooden pestle and the other reaching in and moving it around in between the pounding. As an outsider, I always found this a bit hard to watch, as it always looked like the person moving the fufu around was moments away from losing their arm.
